For thousands of south central Iowa residents, Clarke County Hospital is the first point of emergency care. This is why CCH offers Trauma Level IV services around the clock for our community members. We work closely with Level I and II trauma centers in Des Moines, such as Iowa Methodist Medical Center, to ensure you are cared for here and during a timely transition if necessary.

In addition to our caring qualified nurses and emergency technicians, our quality physicians are ready to care for you 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Our Emergency Services Department ranks among the top emergency rooms in the nation, according to Press Ganey surveys.

The CCH Emergency Department has the best available resuscitation equipment, access to on-site surgical staff and digital imaging, including X-ray and CT. All these tools are here to help the emergency doctor and your primary doctor with your care. This means that we are staffed to meet the emergency needs of your family. More than 3,500 patients depend on Clarke County Hospital emergency services each year to provide the expertise and resources to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions.

Clarke County EMS staff consists of nearly 20 personnel, including EMT B, EMT I and EMP P certified staff. These professionals respond with competence and a caring touch to more than 800 emergency calls each year. And, they are prepared for much more such as hazardous materials incidents, major traffic accidents and all types of weather emergencies.
