Our Community
We're confident about the positive direction our progressive, rural community is moving. Osceola has experienced significant growth in the last decade in both business and housing sectors. The reason for this growth is the friendliness of the community, and just as important - it's location. Osceola is located on Interstate 35 between Des Moines and Kansas City in the scenic, rolling hills of southern Iowa.
Osceola has a strong educational system and our four community lakes offer residents a variety of outdoor recreational opportunities. An outstanding child care facility serves busy growing families. A vibrant downtown area and a competitive retail environment for grocery and household purchases makes our community a favorite shopping destination of residents of neighboring communities. Our Midwest region is also well known for affordable housing options. Osceola has taken a proactive role in providing a wide range of housing options.
Our Facility
Clarke County Hospital opened in January 1953, and has continued to expand in size and in the services it offers with time to meet patients' needs.
The main level of the hospital underwent a major $7.1 million renovation in 2002-2003. We greatly expanded diagnostic areas and added a state-of-the-art surgical suite. We completed renovating the second floor in July 2009. The $4 million renovation project was geared toward our patients to offer private rooms with handicapped accessible bathrooms. Patient safety and privacy played a significant role in our renovation project. Clarke County Hospital strives to offer a safe, comfortable and private environment for healing. CCH's most recent project included the renovation of the first floor west wing. The west wing was transformed from the business office to the new outpatient clinic and home to cardiac rehabilitation. The $1.1 million project was completed in January 2010.
