Clarke County Hospital Receives Grant from Telligen Community Initiative

Clarke County Hospital (CCH) received a grant award of $13,000 from Telligen Community initiative to provide funding for workforce development.  The funds will be used to offset costs associated with the Healthcare Opportunities and Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) programs offered to Clarke Community School District students.

The classes, taught by Clarke County Hospital nurses and health educators, are a collaborative effort involving Southwestern Community College, Clarke Community School District, and Clarke County Hospital.

“The pandemic exacerbated gaps in health equity, as well as staffing issues and career ladders within the health care workforce,” said Matt McGarvey, executive director of TCI.  “We are honored to invest in this program as it addresses critical health challenges through innovation, creativity, and collaboration.”

Located in West Des Moines, Telligen Community Initiative “…supports innovative and forward-looking health-related projects aimed at improving health, social well-being, and educational attainment.”  Funding is available to organizations located in Iowa, Oklahoma, Illinois, and Colorado.
