Clarke County Hospital's Therapy Services Department consists of multiple, specialized Physical Therapists and a Physical Therapist Assistant who see patients through all our levels of care. The Therapy Services team is excited to serve Clarke County and will work with patients to relieve pain, increase range of motion, improve strength and restore function. A customized plan of care will be designed for every patient treated based on their condition with the goal of achieving a more normal, active lifestyle after an illness, surgery, disability, or accident as safely and quickly as possible. Specialty areas include, but are not limited to: sports medicine, neurology, orthopedics, geriatrics and manual therapy. Therapy Services also offers a full range of occupational and speech therapy services and hosts state-of-the-art equipment with the most up-to-date technology and monitoring systems available today.
Physical Therapy (PT) is the practice of rehabilitation of functional mobility after an illness, injury or disease. Treatments may include gait, balance and transfer training, exercise programs, and manual therapy. Physical Therapy also offers specialty programs for strength and conditioning for sports related issues, for treatment of fibromyalgia, chronic pain, osteoporosis, and vestibular (dizziness) issues.
Occupational Therapy (OT) is skilled treatment that helps individuals achieve independence in all facets of their lives. Occupational therapy assists people in developing skills necessary for independent and satisfying lives and restoration of functional skills after illness, injury or disease. OT treatments are designed to improve one's ability to perform daily activities. They may involve home and job site adaptive recommendations, performance and skills assessments and treatments, adaptive equipment recommendations, guidance to family members and caregivers, therapy for upper extremity injuries, stroke and brain injury rehabilitation and many other services. Our Occupational Therapy department also offers specialty services for patients with low vision diagnoses.
The WorkWell program is made up of many components:
Job Analysis and Pre Work Screen
Analyze job sites and provide specific functional screenings to prospective employees once a job offer has been made. WorkWell provides objective data to make sure each employee is able to safely and effectively perform the job functions.
Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE)
This is a test of an individual's ability to perform work related tasks. The FCE is an integral aspect of the return to work process as it will test the physical abilities and limitations of a person in a safe environment replicating work and activities of daily living.
Speech therapy provides skilled therapy services to adults and children to facilitate improved communication, swallowing and cognitive skills. Speech Language Pathologists are trained to facilitate improved speech, language, voice and fluency to improve communication and are also trained to evaluate and treat swallowing disorders. Cognitive skills, such as memory, concentration and problem solving, are
also skills which speech pathologists evaluate and treat to maximize a person's ability to function safely.
