We understand that there are many questions about COVID-19 vaccines in our community. Your health and that of your loved ones is our highest priority, and we are eager to support our community as we transition towards brighter, healthier days ahead. Clarke County Hospital is working closely with public health officials to distribute the vaccine as rapidly and efficiently as possible, based primarily on when we actually receive the vaccines.
Starting February 1st, Iowa Department of Public Health's Phase 1b will begin in Iowa. We are grateful to Clarke County Public Health for allowing Clarke County Hospital to be the primary vaccination site for our community members over the age of 65.
Clarke County Public Health will be providing vaccination to all the other Tier Groups in Phase 1b. We will be focused on vaccinating those over 65 who live in Clarke County and surrounding communities.
We know that many of you are concerned about COVID-19 and want to be vaccinated as soon as possible. We want that to happen for you as well. Without knowing when we will receive vaccines or how many vaccines we'll receive, we will not be scheduling appointments at this time. However, we are starting a waiting list this week.
Signing up on our Vaccine Waiting List is as easy as "click here". Please answer the six questions and submit and that is all you need to do. Your name will be added to our waiting list.
You may also sign up for our COVID-19 Waiting List by calling our Vaccine Call Center at 641-342-5085. The hours of the Vaccine Call Center will be Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (starting February 1st) Your name will be placed on the waiting list based on the date and time that we receive your call or online submission.
Behind the scenes, we're doing everything we can to ensure that the vaccine will be administered as quickly as possible after we receive the vaccine. CCH has developed a vaccination plan that will allow us to vaccinate up to 1,000 people per week if we have the vaccine. The plan will be scaled based on the number of actual vaccines that we receive. We want to reassure you that it is both safe and effective.
Our goal will be to keep you informed of how the Vaccine Clinic is doing. We will be sending you emails on a weekly basis, keeping you informed of our progress. When we receive vaccines, we'll let you know. When your time comes to be vaccinated, we will call you to schedule both the first dose and second dose appointments for the vaccines.
We thank you in advance for your patience. Both Clarke County Hospital and Clarke County Public Health want to vaccinate as many people as possible as quickly as possible. While following the guidelines that the Iowa Department of Public Health has provided, we want to be fair in our approach to everyone in our community.
